What to expect in speech/language/feeding therapy:
Typically, clients will go through an evaluation process in order to determine their speech, language or feeding needs. Following the evaluation, functional speech, language, and/or feeding goals will be determined in order to set short and long term goals that match your child’s needs and overall expectations for improvement.
What is an Speech-Language Pathologist?
A “speech-language pathologist” (SLP) is a provider who works with clients across a variety of communication or feeding needs. SLPs treat expressive, receptive and pragmatic language disorders with clients who are both neurotypical and clients with co-occuring diagnoses. SLPs also work with clients who have feeding difficulties such as picky eating and oral motor concerns. SLPs may work with clients 1:1, or provide services in small groups in order to effectively meet client needs. SLPs work in a variety of settings: private practice, schools, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities.
